Using the POS terminal
The POS terminal is where you take orders and complete sales. Open it from Dashboard → POS, or sign in through the Staff portal to go straight there.
Starting an order
1. Choose a table (for dine-in) or start a quick order. 2. Tap items from your menu to add them to the order. Each tap adds one unit; use the quantity controls to adjust. 3. The running subtotal, tax, and total update automatically on the right.
Dine-in vs. takeout
In countries with more than one tax rate, the terminal shows a dine-in / takeout toggle. This matters because the tax rate can differ between the two.
- Japan — dine-in is taxed at 10% and takeout at 8% under the reduced tax
rate. Switching the toggle re-calculates the tax on the spot.
- Myanmar and Thailand — a single rate applies, so the toggle is hidden and
every order uses the same rate.
Set the order type before completing the sale so the receipt shows the correct tax.
Completing the sale
When the order is ready, complete the sale to generate the receipt. The receipt uses your country's format, currency, and tax breakdown. Myanmar and Japanese yen show no decimal places; Thai baht shows two.
Tips
- Prices and tax are always calculated by the same engine used across the app, so
the POS total, the guest order total, and the receipt always agree.
- If an item is missing, add it under [Menu](/docs/menu) and it appears in the POS
immediately.
